Ghana's Ministry of Health opens its recruitment portal at 10:00 on Tuesday 27 October for the 36th batch of medical officers and dentists. Applications close on Thursday 29 October - and the Ministry is blunt: do not pay anyone.

Who can apply

The recruitment is open to medical officers and dentists in the 36th batch who have completed their house jobs and been verified by the Medical and Dental Council. In a notice reported this week, the Ministry of Health said the exercise is intended to fill staffing gaps in health facilities across the country.

How to apply

Applications are made online only. "Qualified applicants are requested to formally apply on the Ministry of Health online application portal by logging on to https://mohrecruitment.com and following the instructions to select their preferred districts and agencies," the notice said.

Applicants use the platform to submit their details and indicate their preferred districts and agencies. The window is short: the portal opens at 10:00 on Tuesday 27 October and applications close on Thursday 29 October.

Do not pay anyone

The Ministry warned applicants to stay alert to people who promise to secure placements in exchange for money. "Kindly be informed that the recruitment process remains transparent. The Ministry of Health advises all applicants NOT to make any payment for this process," the statement said.

Treat any other website or link with suspicion. The Ministry has previously warned that cloned or unauthorised websites posing as its recruitment portal should be treated as fraudulent and disregarded, and says applicants should rely on its official communication channels for verified information. It has also asked the public to report anyone claiming they can facilitate recruitment through unofficial means.

For Ghanaians abroad with family, friends or former classmates in the 36th batch, the useful things to send them are the dates and the official address: applications open at 10:00 on Tuesday 27 October and close on Thursday 29 October, only at mohrecruitment.com. That is a short window.
